India’s automotive and mobility sector, ZF Group has secured three large test system orders including for powertrain, and tire manufacturing and testing.
ZF Group has secured three major contracts from India automotive and tyre manufacturers to build advanced automotive testing systems. This contract covers systems for powertrain testing, tyre research and development, and end-of-line quality checks.
ZF’s testing solutions are used in testing the performance of driveline systems, active chassis components, tyres, wheels, brakes and batteries. The company supplies both standalone benches and complete test lines. Testing requirements support for conventional, electric and autonomous vehicles.
The largest order includes the supply of a 440 kW differential unit test bench, the first of its kind in India. The system uses a three-dynamometer (3E) configuration with direct shaft connection to the Device Under Test (DUT), eliminating intermediate gearboxes or chains to reduce energy losses.
The design also features a movable dynamometer with horizontal adjustment to accommodate multiple DUT types for high-precision testing.
A second contract involves eight tyre R&D test benches for a domestic tyre manufacturer. These include rolling resistance testing equipment, as well as endurance and high-speed testing machines for passenger car and two-wheeler tyres.
The third order covers three end-of-line tyre test benches for another Indian manufacturer. These automated systems are installed at the final stage of production to verify quality and compliance before products leave the factory.
According to Akash Passey, President, ZF Group India, “These orders not just set a new benchmark in the segment but serve as a reference point for future projects in the region. These orders reinforce our commitment to innovation and excellence in engineering in automotive and industrial segments.”
