For zero-emission buses, ZF wins a major contract in India to supply AxTrax 2 electric axles, boosting its leadership in commercial vehicle electrification.
Automotive tech firm ZF’s commercial vehicle solutions (CVS) division has landed an order to supply thousands of its advanced AxTrax 2 electric axles to a prominent commercial vehicle manufacturer in India.
According to the company, the deal marks the first deployment of the AxTrax 2 in India and will see the next-generation electric axle power a fleet of zero-emission intercity buses.
The AxTrax 2 system replaces the traditional engine, transmission, and axle setup, offering 210 kW of continuous power in a compact and lightweight design.
It is a part of ZF’s modular e-mobility kit, which includes proprietary, high-performance components to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The system is engineered to meet future mobility demands with increased efficiency and performance.
“This nomination demonstrates how leading manufacturers across the globe are increasingly attracted to our comprehensive technology portfolio,” commented Dr Peter Laier, Member of ZF’s Board of Management and head of the CVS division.
“We are delighted to support our customers in this transition,” he added. “By leveraging the synergy effects created by our cross-divisional expertise in the field of electric drives, we can deliver the innovative and reliable e-mobility solutions that also help reduce the total cost of ownership.”
As this agreement further strengthens ZF’s footprint in India’s rapidly evolving commercial vehicle electrification market, the company aims to lead the shift towards sustainable commercial transport solutions in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
