Philips provides a holistic lighting solution for budget office needs
Objective
Family-run firm Randstad, the premises of which had been destroyed by a fire in 2008, is ready for business and its new office is in Cramlington, Northumberland in UK. The firm is the leading supplier of automotive parts, consumables and disposables to the automotive, health and beauty sectors. For its new office, it required excellent lighting quality at an affordable cost.
Challenges
After the fire, a better designed office had to be built, which took around 12 months. Besides, the firm needed a lighting system that was compatible with the other new technologies installed at the new premises.
Solution
In the end, Philips, which was working on contract with Castle Building Services, installed a 100 per cent LED office lighting solution. The Philips Luxspace and EssentiaLED luminaires were used in the general office, corridors, washrooms and the canteen. These lights have a three-year warranty.
The Luxspace downlights, which have been installed almost everywhere in the office, consume only 19W, saving almost 50 per cent of the energy earlier consumed, whereas the EssentiaLED GU10 downlights save 80 per cent of energy. Overall, almost 6000kg of carbon dioxide emissions per annum have been cut down.
Philips has also installed an easy-to-use control system to provide maximum benefits of the new lighting to Randstand.
