TSSC Collabs With Britco & Bridco to Unveil CoE For Mobile Repair in Kerala

  • The CoE will serve as a hub for comprehensive training programs in mobile handset repair
  • The partners aim to push the ‘Right to Repair’ initiative and make a positive impact on the lives of aspiring technicians in the telecom industry

India’s leading skill development institution, Telcom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) recently announced its strategic partnership with Britco & Bridco, a skill-based organization, to open a “state-of-the-art Mega Centre of Excellence” (CoE) to train youth in mobile handset repair courses in Kerala. As per the press release, the CoE will serve as a hub for comprehensive training programs in mobile handset repair. Under the partnership, TSSC will train about 3,500 youth candidates in the next year and help in placing them internationally and also empower them to become entrepreneurs. The parties are making an effort to give a major push to the ‘Right to Repair’ initiative, which seeks to give consumers and independent repair professionals, access to the necessary tools, documentation, and parts needed to repair electronic devices. They believe that this collaboration will be a key initiative in bridging the gap between industry requirements and the available talent in the domain. This initiative is in association with Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary Education Department & Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

The CoE was inaugurated by Mr Arvind Bali, CEO of Telecom Sector Skill Council, along with representatives from Britco & Bridco and district representatives from Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan along with several key stakeholders, industry leaders and government officials.

This partnership seeks to bridge the skill gap and create a pool of competent professionals in the field. The press release said that with a designed curriculum, the CoE will provide hands-on training to the candidates to help them gain practical expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mobile handsets, thereby enhancing their employability prospects.

Delighted to join forces with Britco & Bridco to establish the Mega Centre of Excellence in Kerala, the CEO of TSSC, Arvind Bali remarked on the occasion, “This collaboration will play a pivotal role in addressing the industry’s demand for skilled mobile handset repair technicians while providing valuable employment opportunities to the youth of Kerala. As India is the 2nd largest mobile manufacturing country in the world, by offering world-class training and certification programs, this initiative aims to catalyze socio-economic growth and contribute to the growing push towards ‘Right to Repair’ and the development of a skilled workforce ecosystem in telecom and related field.”

1998-born Britco & Bridco is a technology company based in Kottakkal, Kerala, and works to support various institutions to provide training, industrial experience, national and international placement, and further entrepreneurship for students. TSSC has recognized Britco & Bridco as an Academic Partner.
