Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with prominent charge point operators Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon to enhance India’s charging infrastructure.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), a leader in India’s EV movement, recently entered a partnership with top charge point operators Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon to expand India’s charging infrastructure. This agreement leverages the extensive network of these operators, which includes nearly 2,000 charging points in key cities, and TPEM’s insights from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads. TPEM will guide these CPOs in placing chargers at strategic locations and provide usage data to enhance customer experience. This initiative aims to add over 10,000 new charging points within the next 12-15 months.
Additionally, TPEM plans to collaborate with these CPOs to introduce a smart payment system using co-branded RFID cards for Tata EV users, offering easy payment solutions and access to loyalty programs and dedicated customer support.
Balaje Rajan, TPEM’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized the importance of accessible charging infrastructure for faster EV adoption. He highlighted the potential of this partnership, combining TPEM’s unique EV insights with the CPOs’ innovative charging solutions to create over 10,000 new charging points by FY25. This move aligns with global trends showing that extensive charging networks significantly boost EV adoption.
TPEM has also been working closely with Tata Power, setting up over 4,900 public chargers nationwide and launching the EZ Charge Card for easy charging access. Furthermore, a collaboration with BPCL aims to establish 7,000 chargers in the coming year, according to a company press release.
