The Western Railways’ Bhavnagar Division, India has invited bids for the installation of rooftop solar power projects totaling 1.3 MW, which will incorporate a net metering facility. The tender process involves designing, supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning solar systems with at least 10 kW capacity at each location, although the exact locations are yet to be disclosed.
The successful bidder will also be responsible for a five-year warranty and comprehensive maintenance of the installed systems. Bids are accepted from December 13 to December 27, 2023, with the bid opening on the last day of the submission period. The project must be completed within six months of the work order issuance, and the tender is valued at ₹6.364 crores.
To be eligible, the bidders should meet atleast one of these criteria within the last seven years: three works each costing at least 30% of the tender’s value, two works each at 40%, or one work at 60% of the tender’s value.
Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹468,000 and hold a valid electrical contractor license. Bidders should also demonstrate a minimum average annual contractual turnover, calculated based on the tender value and the number of years allocated for completion. This turnover is the average of the total contractual payments received over the past three financial years.
In November, Western Railways announced substantial energy cost savings. Throughout the financial year 2021-2022, they saved 30 million rupees on energy bills. This achievement was made possible by the installation of solar power projects totaling 606 MW across 97 railway stations, in addition to 3.92 MW of solar projects at 46 railway office buildings.
Continuing this trend of embracing renewable energy, the Kota division of the West Central Railways has recently initiated a tender process. They have invited bids for the state-wise empanelment of agencies tasked with implementing grid-connected rooftop solar projects. These projects, collectively amounting to a capacity of 4.19 MW, are planned for installation at various yards and workshops under their jurisdiction.
