Israel’s government has recently announced an investment of $3.2 billion for Intel’s new $25 billion chip plant, which will be set up in southern Israel.
“This investment, at a time when Israel wages war against utter wickedness, a war in which good must defeat evil, is an investment in the right and righteous values that spell progress for humanity,” far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said.
This year in June, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared that Intel may establish a new $25 billion chip plant in Israel. Intel has not confirmed this investment yet. The Fab 38 plant will open in 2028 and operate through 2035.
Intel has its presence in Israel since 1974 and now operates four development and production sites, including its manufacturing plant in Kiryat Gat called Fab 28 that produces Intel 7 technology, or 10 nanometer chips, and employs nearly 12,000 people in the country while indirectly employing another 42,000 more.
Intel stated that its expansion plan for the Kiryat Gat facility, located 42 km (26 miles) from Gaza, is a crucial element of its efforts to enhance the resilience of its global supply chain. This expansion aligns with Intel’s ongoing and planned manufacturing investments in Europe and the United States, as per the company’s official statement.
