In a significant development that bodes well for the nation’s semiconductor sector, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) established a strategic partnership with the global industry body SEMI on Wednesday.
In a significant move to strengthen the semiconductor industry in India, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) entered into a strategic alliance with the global industry association SEMI on Wednesday. This partnership is aimed at fostering collaboration and creating synergies between the two organizations, with the objective of enhancing the Indian semiconductor ecosystem and strengthening global partnerships. The collaboration is set to connect Indian stakeholders with the global semiconductor manufacturing and design supply chain, focusing on areas such as manufacturing, policy enablement, design, skill development, research and development, academia, and supply chains.
Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that their joint efforts with multiple partners for ‘SEMICON India 2024’ in September are expected to act as a catalyst in these endeavours. SEMI is an influential association representing over 3,000 member companies involved in the semiconductor design and manufacturing supply chain.
The partnership also aims to leverage research data to further these objectives. Ashok Chandak, President of IESA, highlighted the significance of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as a pivotal moment for India’s semiconductor industry as it stands on the brink of an unprecedented transformation. The collaboration will involve both organizations leveraging their events and initiatives to enable companies to meet, form new partnerships, and advance the emerging Indian manufacturing and design ecosystem.
Chandak further emphasized that this strategic partnership symbolizes a collective determination to propel India into the global semiconductor orbit by harnessing SEMI’s extensive international network and IESA’s deep-rooted expertise in the Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Industry.
Dr. Veerappan, Chairperson of IESA, pointed out that the collaboration is poised to unlock unprecedented opportunities for growth, collaboration, and technological advancement between Indian and global players in the semiconductor industry.
