India-EU To Enhance EV Battery Recycling Partnerships: GOV

The India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Working Group 2 (WG2) convened a meeting in the national capital.

The government has highlighted that startups in India and Europe specialising in the recycling of electric vehicle (EV) batteries are at the forefront of pioneering innovation and are actively forging business alliances. Emphasising the significance of recycling EV batteries, the principal scientific adviser to the government orchestrated a gathering with technology startups focused on battery recycling from European Union member states, select Indian startups, and officials from the EU delegation to India. This assembly underscored the mutual dedication of India and the EU to sustainability and innovation.

In a statement, Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the government, remarked that this collaborative endeavour presents fresh avenues for technology transfer, market access, and joint development, which are crucial for promoting economic stability and sustainable growth.

This conference took place in the national capital under the auspices of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Working Group 2 (WG2). According to Dr. Ewa Suwara, Deputy Head of the EU delegation to India, the Trade and Technology Council is instrumental in aiding EU and Indian startups to unite, drive innovation, enhance business cooperation, and increase the market adoption of innovative technologies.

The discussions were centred on the advancements in nurturing partnerships between Indian and European companies in the crucial sector of EV battery recycling solutions. Among the participants were Indian companies such as BatX Energies, Evergreen Lithium Recycling, LW3 Pvt Ltd, and Lohum, as well as European firms such as Ecomet Refining and Eneris.
