IT Minister: Telangana Building Strong Semiconductor Ecosystem

On Friday, Duddila Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Industries, stated that the state government aims to establish a strong and independent semiconductor ecosystem.

In Hyderabad, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Industries, Duddila Sridhar Babu, announced on Friday the state’s commitment to developing a robust and self-sustaining semiconductor ecosystem. Speaking at the inauguration of the new Research & Development (R&D) facility of Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in power IC and magnetic sensing solutions, he emphasized the significant potential of the collaboration with Allegro. He highlighted that it would enable local entrepreneurs to develop localized solutions in areas such as battery management, EV powertrains, and technologies for future mobility and autonomous vehicles, thus supporting India’s progression towards an electric vehicle future.

The newly opened facility has already hired nearly 100 highly skilled professionals and is set to increase its workforce to 500 in the coming years. The R&D centre aims to serve as a Centre of Excellence in analogue and mixed-signal design, verification, and validation targeting the EV, automotive, and robotic automation sectors. This initiative is expected to spearhead advanced technological developments and bolster Hyderabad’s status as a leader in innovative technology solutions.

Vineet Nargolwala, CEO of Allegro MicroSystems, praised Hyderabad’s exceptional talent pool, supportive government policies, and strategic location as pivotal factors, making the city an ideal base for their expansion. He affirmed that Allegro MicroSystems’s decision to enlarge its operations in Hyderabad is in sync with the city’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and encouraging governmental initiatives.

Allegro MicroSystems, a prominent supplier to major automotive manufacturers, including BMW and other leading EV producers, brings expertise that is crucial for the development of innovative solutions in battery management, EV powertrains, future mobility, and autonomous vehicle technologies. The R&D centre is set to play a key role in advancing solutions for e-mobility, clean energy, and automation, aligning with Allegro’s vision for a safer, more sustainable, and autonomous future. Allegro’s products are used in diverse sectors, such as solar inverters, EV charging systems, robotics, AI data servers, and personal medical devices. The establishment of this centre in Hyderabad is anticipated to cater to increasing global demands while promoting local innovation, skill enhancement, and technology transfer.
