Enfabrica Launches New AI R&D Centre In Hyderabad

A new R&D facility in Hyderabad? To boost AI networking innovation, targeting Generative AI and scaling GPU clusters, with plans for workforce expansion, US’ fabless chip company Enfabrica inaugurates its centre.

Enfabrica’s new R&D facility in Hyderabad

US-based fabless semiconductor company Enfabrica Corporation has inaugurated a new research and development (R&D) facility in Hyderabad, India. Specialising in AI networking, the new R&D hub will play a crucial role in developing its innovative accelerated compute fabric (ACF) technology aimed at optimising the performance and scalability of GPU/accelerator clusters.

The facility will focus on developing solutions for Generative AI training, inference, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications. The company plans to increase its workforce significantly in India, to quadruple the number of employees by the end of 2025.

According to Enfabrica, India’s advanced digital infrastructure and vibrant tech ecosystem make it an ideal location for the new R&D centre.

The country’s AI market is projected to reach $8 billion by 2025, growing at over 40% annually. Hyderabad, a city rich in academic and engineering talent, offers an ideal environment to nurture innovative AI solutions and expand its engineering team.

The firm’s flagship product, the 3.2 Terabit/second ACF SuperNIC, is designed to be the fastest and most scalable GPU network interface controller available. This chip enhances AI performance for clusters ranging from 2,000 to over 100,000 GPUs, improving efficiency while reducing capital and operational costs.

As GenAI and other advanced AI models rapidly gain traction, the demand for robust, cost-effective AI infrastructure is growing, and Enfabrica sees itself to meet that need.

Founded in 2020 by former Silicon Valley engineers, the company has already raised $260 million in funding and is continuing to expand its engineering capabilities to meet the growing demand for scalable AI infrastructure solutions.
