IET Lucknow Opens Centre For Green Hydrogen And EV Training

Green hydrogen meets electric mobility at Lucknow’s IET, where new labs powered by renewable energy is set to offer hands-on training in tomorrow’s clean energy tech.

The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow, has launched two new training centres focused on green hydrogen and electric vehicle (EV) systems. The initiative aims to provide students with practical experience in clean energy technologies.

The green hydrogen centre includes a small-scale setup that produces hydrogen using electricity from renewable solar and wind power. The setup currently generates around 4kW of renewable electricity, allowing students to observe real-time conversion processes and grid integration techniques.

On the other hand, the EV lab is designed to help students understand battery systems, motors, and charging infrastructure through modular, practical learning.

IET Director, Professor Vineet Kansal, shared that the institute has developed a smart renewable energy-based management system along with the green hydrogen centre.

It will be an experimental research platform designed to study real-world smart grid dynamics, powered by multiple renewable sources and linked with green hydrogen technology, he explained.

Professor Arun Kumar Tiwari, who heads both centres, observed that the system offers an excellent practical learning platform for students, researchers, and energy professionals.

He mentioned that it enables a thorough understanding of hydrogen energy cycles, the integration of renewable sources, and the operation of smart grids within a safe and controlled environment.

Both the centres are located on campus and are expected to support a combination of academic coursework, lab experiments, and prototype testing for next-generation engineers.
