IIT Roorkee Gets Access To Digital Twin Lab

CADFEM India has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee establishing Digital Twin Simulation Lab on campus.

This lab gives IIT Roorkee access to advanced simulation platforms including digital twin, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element method (FEM), and electromagnetic field simulations. CADFEM, as an Elite Channel Partner of Ansys, is supporting this collaboration through software licenses, technical workshops, and faculty-student engagement. The goal is to create an ecosystem where academic research meets real-world engineering problems via simulation.

The lab is expected to serve multiple functions from enhancing curriculum, enabling applied research, and offering hands-on training in simulation technologies. According to Madhukar Chatiri, CEO of CADFEM APAC, the model is designed to be replicated at other engineering institutions in India to standardise simulation-based education.

This partnership includes guest lecturing to IIT-R students, collaborative publications, and workshops aimed at building research capacity in fields like smart infrastructure, AI-driven design, and sustainability. This will also create pathways for researchers to co-develop publications in emerging technology areas.

Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, stated that the initiative strengthens the institute’s academic infrastructure and aligns with its goal to develop industry-ready engineers. The collaboration is also positioned to contribute to national goals in digital innovation and engineering talent development.
