Matrix Geo Bags MP Govt Contract For Drone-LiDAR Mapping

Bags ₹51.4 Million MP Govt Contract from Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation for Narmada Parikrama Survey.

Matrix Geo Solutions Limited has secured a ₹51.4 Million contract from the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Limited, the state’s nodal technology agency, to conduct a geospatial survey of the Narmada Parikrama corridor, according to a company statement.

The mandate, to be executed over six months, involves aerial data acquisition across roughly 2,400 sq km of the Narmada River corridor using drones, aircraft, helicopters and LiDAR systems.

The company claims the deployment will enable high-resolution mapping, terrain modelling and hydrological analysis for downstream planning.

Matrix Geo said the data collected will be used to create a ‘digital twin’ of the river corridor to support monitoring, planning and decision-making. The company added that the dataset may also be used for identifying encroachments, ecological sensitivities and infrastructure gaps, though these outcomes remain subject to implementation by government agencies.

The survey is expected to feed into Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and infrastructure planning linked to the Narmada Parikrama, a religious pilgrimage route that sees significant annual footfall.

The state government aims to use the project to improve pilgrimage infrastructure, boost tourism and balance ecological considerations, as per the release.

According to Matrix Geo, the project will integrate GIS, remote sensing and analytics into a unified data layer for departments including forest and environment, water resources, tourism, and disaster management.

Company officials described the mandate as a convergence of geo-spatial technology and cultural infrastructure, though execution timelines and on-ground impact will depend on coordination across multiple state departments.

Speaking on the project win, Amit Sharma, Whole Time Director, Matrix Geo Solutions Limited, said, “This project is a unique convergence of spirituality, sustainability, and technology. We are honored to partner with MPSEDC in creating a future-ready digital ecosystem for the Narmada Parikrama. Our goal is to build a highly accurate, scalable, and intelligent geospatial foundation that supports both pilgrimage and policy.”

The company further claimed the project could support improved route planning, accessibility for pilgrims, eco-tourism development and local employment generation, subject to project rollout and policy follow-through.
