Sivers Semiconductors Wins $6.6M Extension for US Electronic Warfare Programme

The second-year EW STAR award highlights growing momentum behind advanced wideband antenna technologies for next-generation electronic warfare and radar systems.

Sivers Semiconductors AB has announced that its Electronic Warfare (EW STAR) project has been extended into a second year under the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub, part of the U.S. Microelectronics Commons program. The extension underscores the company’s strong technical performance and successful achievement of first-year milestones.

The Year-2 award is valued at $6.6 million, reinforcing confidence in Sivers’ progress in developing next-generation electronic warfare technologies.

According to Harish Krishnaswamy, Managing Director of the company’s Wireless Division, the renewed funding highlights both the innovation behind Sivers’ technology platform and the program’s early technical achievements. He noted that continued backing from the NEMC Hub and the Microelectronics Commons initiative will help accelerate efforts to modernize advanced defense systems and architectures.

The EW STAR program focuses on advancing wideband antenna array technologies capable of simultaneous transmit-and-receive operations. These systems are designed to support electronic warfare, communications, and radar applications while also enabling potential dual-use commercial deployments.

Funding for the initiative is provided through the Microelectronics Commons framework established by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division. Under the program, Sivers Semiconductors is collaborating with key industry and academic partners, including BAE Systems, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and Columbia University.

The extension strengthens Sivers’ role in advancing cutting-edge photonics and wireless technologies aimed at enhancing future electronic warfare capabilities while supporting broader commercial innovation opportunities.
