Stellantis Expands Partnership with Qualcomm for SDV Platforms

Are SDVs reshaping Stellantis’ future fleet? Its expanded Qualcomm partnership brings AI, ADAS, cockpit and connectivity platforms to next-generation vehicles globally.

Stellantis has expanded its long-term partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to introduce Snapdragon Digital Chassis platforms across its next-generation vehicles, extending the collaboration into advanced driver assistance, connectivity, and digital cockpit technologies.

The agreement will see the automotive group deploy Qualcomm’s system-on-chip (SoC) technologies alongside STLA Brain, Stellantis’ software and electronic architecture platform, to support computing functions across multiple vehicle systems.

The move is intended to create a unified technology framework covering cockpit functions, connectivity services and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

According to the companies, the technology will be deployed across Stellantis’s brands globally and is expected to support platform standardisation efforts to reduce complexity and improve development efficiency.

As part of the expanded arrangement, Stellantis will also adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Pilot platform. The ADAS system is designed to support functions ranging from safety and compliance features to Level 2+ automated driving capabilities, including hands-free driving applications where permitted.

The companies said the collaboration builds on their existing work in connected vehicle and cockpit technologies and will extend AI-driven computing capabilities across future vehicle programmes.

Alongside the technology announcement, Stellantis and Qualcomm disclosed that they have signed a non-binding letter of intent involving aiMotive, Stellantis’ automated driving and simulation subsidiary.

The proposal could result in aiMotive joining Qualcomm Technologies, although the move remains subject to further negotiations, due diligence, regulatory approvals and final agreements.

Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer at Stellantis, said the company aims to introduce connected and continuously upgradeable vehicle experiences across its global portfolio through the collaboration.

Nakul Duggal, Executive Vice President and Group General Manager for Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT at Qualcomm Technologies, said the partnership now extends beyond connectivity and digital cockpit systems to include ADAS and automated driving technologies.
