Aiming to guide AOS’ future growth, technology executive Joshua Chien steps in as an independent director.
Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS) has appointed Joshua Chien as an independent member of its Board of Directors, with the appointment taking effect immediately following board approval on July 8, 2026.
The company said the appointment was made on the recommendation of its Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. AOS expects Chien’s experience in business development, supply chain strategy and operational leadership to support its long-term growth plans and strategic priorities.
Chien currently serves as executive vice president and product & strategy officer at Sonatus, Inc., an artificial intelligence-enabled mobility software company.
In this role, undertaken through his advisory firm DeoNow, he oversees product strategy and the expansion of the company’s platform into markets beyond the automotive sector.
Before joining Sonatus, Chien was chief commercial officer at SMTC Corporation between 2021 and April 2026, where he was responsible for sales, marketing, account management and Asia operations.
According to AOS, the company recorded more than fourfold revenue growth during his tenure. He previously served as SMTC’s senior vice president of global sales and marketing from 2014 to 2020.
Earlier in his career, Chien spent 14 years at Sanmina Corporation in a range of leadership positions, including Vice President of Global Strategic Business Development and Customer Service.
Commenting on the appointment, AOS Chief Executive Officer Stephen Chang said Chien’s experience across the technology and electronics manufacturing sectors would add valuable expertise to the board as the company continues to expand its business.
Chien holds a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and has completed the finance for executives programme at Harvard Business School.
Alpha and Omega Semiconductor designs and supplies power semiconductor products, including power management integrated circuits, silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) devices, serving applications across consumer electronics, automotive systems, industrial equipment, data centres and artificial intelligence (AI) servers.
