Consumer electronics giant reports flat revenue growth as handset sales slip amid stiff local and Chinese competition.
Samsung India Electronics recorded a 36 per cent year-on-year drop in net profit to 7,228.10 crore rupees ($867 million) for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, according to regulatory filings sourced via business intelligence platform Tofler.
Operational revenue rose by a marginal 1.2 per cent to $13.4 billion (1.12 lakh crore rupees) in FY26, compared with $13.3 billion (1.11 lakh crore rupees) and a net profit of $1.35 billion (11,287.50 crore rupees) in FY25. Total consolidated income reached $13.7 billion. While remaining the only Indian appliance and consumer electronics company to cross the 1 lakh crore rupee annual revenue threshold, the firm faced headwind pressures across its core mobile division.
Revenue from Hand Held Phones (HHP), including mobile accessories, fell 1.35 per cent to $9.78 billion. The segment continues to face dual-front competition, battling Apple in the premium smartphone category alongside Chinese original equipment manufacturers—including Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Realme—in the mass market.
In contrast, non-mobile divisions demonstrated steady expansion across all key segments. The Home Appliances division grew 3.52 per cent to $1.47 billion, while Audio-Visual revenue increased 8.5 per cent to $967 million. Additionally, Software Development and Export operations rose 6.85 per cent to $292 million during the financial year.
While domestic market revenue climbed 9.34 per cent to $7.9 billion, overall export revenues shrank 5.64 per cent to $4.93 billion. Total expenses increased 3.54 per cent to $12.5 billion, driven in part by a 7.2 per cent rise in technical royalty payments to its South Korean parent company, which totaled $417 million, despite an 11.9 per cent reduction in promotional expenditure.
