Spain-based NX Technologies has secured €1.9 million in PERTE funding to develop compact traction inverters for light EVs, expanding its European power-electronics portfolio across road, maritime, and aviation applications.
NX Technologies has secured €1.9 million from Spain’s PERTE programme to develop a next-generation traction inverter for light electric vehicles. The R&D project will run from 2026 to 2029 under the fifth call for proposals of PERTE VEC.
The San Sebastián-based EV power-electronics specialist plans to develop compact, lightweight traction inverters for a light electromobility segment it says has few specialised providers. The technology is intended for applications spanning road, maritime, and aviation vehicles. NX Technologies says it develops and manufactures its products entirely in Europe. The company has expanded to the Netherlands, France, the UK, India, and the USA, while Spain remains its focal market.
The company also develops battery management systems (BMS) for EVs ranging from motorcycles and quad bikes to trucks, buses, and tractors.
“With this new product range, we aim to make cutting-edge technology accessible for a wide range of light vehicles, for which there are currently few European solutions that meet future market requirements – from road and maritime to aviation,” said Mikel Peral, CEO, NX Technologies. “The PERTE programme gives us the impetus to accelerate development and compete with the best, thereby consolidating NX’s position as a European market leader in traction inverters for all types of electric vehicles.”
NX Technologies says it has raised more than €10 million in public and private funding and invested €5.2 million in R&D since its founding. Its workforce has grown by 50% in 2025 to around 40 employees.
