The industrial equipment manufacturer leverages bundled utilities and local production to capture the growing domestic chip supply chain.
Atlas Copco India plans to capitalise on its end-to-end turnkey capabilities to secure business across India’s expanding semiconductor sector, following a contract win with the country’s first commercial fabrication plant (fab).
Speaking to ETElectronicsWorld, Sunil Natekar, Business Line Manager for Oil-Free Air at Atlas Copco India, highlighted the company’s ability to deliver complete, pre-configured utility rooms—integrating adiabatic coolers, chillers, and compressed air systems—as a key differentiator over competitors offering standalone equipment. Natekar noted that this bundled approach simplifies infrastructure deployment for manufacturers across both front-end and back-end (OSAT) semiconductor processes.
The Pune-headquartered subsidiary of Sweden’s Atlas Copco is positioning itself to serve the entire semiconductor ecosystem, ranging from primary fab operators to tier-one suppliers. Natekar confirmed that the firm has already secured orders from industry vendors constructing facilities under the Centre’s India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) framework.
Atlas Copco India currently operates three manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra—located in Dapodi, Chakan, and Talegaon—producing high-efficiency air compressors, vacuum solutions, and power tools for domestic and export markets. The company’s production footprint has been further expanded through the acquisition of Trident Pneumatics for gas generation and HHV Pumps for vacuum technologies.
While the company maintains sufficient capacity at its Talegaon plant to meet near-term demand surges, Natekar indicated that Atlas Copco India remains open to further inorganic growth opportunities to strengthen its market position as the domestic semiconductor ecosystem scales.
