smart has officially entered the Thai market through a strategic partnership with Thonburi Group, its importer and distributor in the country. The launch expands smart’s presence in Southeast Asia and introduces its all-electric vehicle portfolio to Thai customers.
The lineup comprises three models: the smart #1 premium compact SUV, the smart #3 SUV coupé, and the smart #5 premium mid-size SUV. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, the vehicles combine premium styling, intelligent technologies, and safety features.
To establish its local presence, smart plans to open its first dedicated flagship showroom in Bangkok later this year. Sales and after-sales services will also be supported by Mercedes-Benz’s established premium retail network in Thailand.
According to Kang Yi, Global CMO of smart, the launch marks an important step in the brand’s Southeast Asian expansion. The company aims to address Thailand’s evolving electric mobility needs by offering premium electric vehicles and an integrated ownership experience.
Papon Viriyaphant, Executive Director of Thonburi Group, said the partnership aligns with the group’s long-term growth strategy and aims to contribute to the development of Thailand’s EV ecosystem.
