BEL’s ₹2500 crore defence investment in Andhra Pradesh could expand the regional supplier ecosystem, create 800 jobs and open potential opportunities for defence electronics manufacturers.
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Central government-owned Navratna company, is investing ₹2,500 crore to establish a defence ecosystem on a 914-acre site in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district. The investment could create opportunities for defence electronics suppliers as high-tech manufacturing expands in the Rayalaseema region.
Andhra Pradesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said the facility would bring high-tech defence manufacturing to the region and create 800 quality jobs for young people.
The project is also expected to support the growth of a local supplier base, potentially opening opportunities for manufacturers of electronic components, subsystems and other industrial inputs serving defence programmes.
However, the specific electronics products to be manufactured, component requirements and supplier contracts have not been disclosed in the available report.
Lokesh said the state government had fulfilled its commitment through the investment, according to The Hindu’s report published on October 25, 2026.
