SandStone Cuts Automotive Electronics Data Storage Costs By 65 Per Cent

SandStone claims 65% lower storage costs with its inspection-data management system at a Thai automotive parts plant, accelerating quality-data retrieval from hours to seconds.

SandStone reports a 65% reduction in storage costs after deploying its Inspection Data Management System (IDM) at a Thai automotive parts manufacturing plant. The system also cuts inspection-data retrieval times from hours to seconds, supporting faster quality traceability and manufacturing process optimisation.

Automotive electronics production lines generate large volumes of inspection images through Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Yield Management Systems (YMS). Managing this data while maintaining long-term quality records creates storage, retrieval and traceability challenges for manufacturers.

SandStone IDM integrates data collection, storage, processing, analysis and archiving. The company says its AI-based lossless compression technology can save up to 90% of storage space, while its platform supports exabyte-scale capacity expansion and retrieval across trillions of inspection images in seconds.

At the Thai facility, which produces electric drive systems and power supply systems, the platform provides unified storage and intelligent analysis of production-quality data. SandStone reports that retrieval efficiency increased by thousands of times following deployment.

The company also names Peng Shen Technology, Zhongji InnoLight, Sunwoda, Quanta Computer and Victory Giant Technology among manufacturers it serves in Thailand. However, the release does not specify which of these companies use IDM or report individual performance results.

As Thailand seeks to strengthen its position as an electric vehicle manufacturing hub, inspection-data management is becoming increasingly important for automotive component suppliers seeking efficient quality traceability and long-term data retention.
