• 166 million electrified houses
• 76 million houses use kerosene for lighting
• 1.08 million houses use solar for lighting
• 140 million houses have a proper roof (concrete or asbestos/metal sheet)
• 130 million houses have>2 rooms
• Average house can accommodate a 1-3 kWp solar PV system
• The large commercial roofs can accommodate larger capacities
• As a conservative estimate, a capacity to generate about 25,000 MW can be accommodated on roofs of buildings having>2 rooms alone if we consider just 20 per cent of the proper roofs
