LB: Since when have you been manufacturing and trading in LED products in India?

We are new entrants in the Indian market—we started our component distribution in the country last year. All our products are made in Korea, and our sole distributor in India is Volga Lighting Systems.

LB: What LED products do you manufacture?

Sewon is a world leading supplier for LED light diffusers. It has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Korea, and is the market leader in the PS diffuser business in that country. It caters to customers like LG and Samsung, which use its LED light diffusers for their lighting and TV businesses. We are now proud to present our LED products to Indian customers.

LB: How are your LED products technologically more advanced than the other competitors in the market?

Sewon products have special features like the three-layer technology to provide good quality light diffusion and avoid light loss, improved efficiency, special UV treatment to avoid yellowing in indoor use, and a special anti-static treatment to avoid dust accumulation on surface areas.

LB: From which region or cities do you witness the most demand for your LED products?

Well, demand is coming from across the country. However, currently, we are present in over 10 cities in India and aim to increase our presence across the country very soon.

LB: Has the demand increased in the last two years? And by how much?

Though it is too early to talk about the growth rate, we have witnessed significant growth since last year.

LB: What challenges do you face while doing business in India?

Logistics is one major issue that our company is facing at the moment.

LB: Are you coming up with any new products this year?

Sewon has recently launched a high quality light guide panel (LGP) for panel light applications. The LGP is made using PMMA (poly methyl methacrylate), with industrial grade laser engraving. One side is micro patterned. It is the same technology that is used in the LED TV business. This improves the efficiency of the LGP to a great extent.

LB: Are you looking for partners, such as distributors, systems integrators, etc?

Yes, Sewon is looking forward to supplying to all LED lighting manufacturers across India. We have robust plans on the cards to achieve this target very soon.

LB: How do you contribute to developing the LED product manufacturing ecosystem in India?

I think by supplying high quality LED diffuser sheets, we are making a significant contribution in developing LED product manufacturing in the country.
