In July 2011, ON Semiconductor has introduced the CAT2300 current mirror with a switch controller. Features and USP: The CAT2300 offers a single chip alternative to a discrete circuit approach and provides sensorless precision current measurement of 0.9 V to 5 V power supply rails. The device performs current mirroring to 70 mA, which equates to 25A of measured current, and integrates logic level on/off control of the power MOSFET and its own circuitry. It also has a soft start function. Current consumption is less than one microampere in shutdown mode. Housed in a 2 x 3 mm² TDFN-8 package, the CAT2300 is suitable for use across a -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range.
