According to Red Hat, US based open source solution provider, top Indian telecom service providers are set to rely on “Open Telco” approach in making next generation networks using virtualisation technology to bring flexibility in offering new services and preparing for 5G in coming years.
“The target goal of NFV is to open, be multi-vendor, be flexible and agile,” said Ben Panic, Director of Sales, Asia Pacific Region (Telecommunications) at Red Hat to Economics Times.
“It a crazy environment for telcos with intense competition. To respond to market conditions, a telco’s new offers and schemes must come out much faster into the market…this is a critical case for where you have open source or enterprise open source technology and creating a standardized platform plays a very pivotal role,” said Hitesh Sahijwala, Director – Sales, Red Hat India and South Asia
Panic claims that the slicing of networks will play an important role for the development of 5G network and for slicing different application requirements are needed. he also added that telcos would need open architecture as against proprietary architecture.
