Dutch automotive manufacturer Stellantis is planning to diversify its electrified range this year by adding an electric version of the Opel Astra and a hybrid Peugeot 308, among other new additions.
A merger between Italian-American Fiat Chrysler and France’s PSA, Stellantis stated that it plans to increase the number of hybrids and fully EVs from the current 29 to 40 by the end of this year, and aims to provide hybrid or fully electric versions of all its automobiles available in Europe by 2025.
Being the world’s largest carmaker, Stellantis is gearing up to enter the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing race and the group looks forward to using its size and potential to set itself up as a tough competitor in the EV manufacturing space, said CEO Carlos Tavares.
According to the group’s newsletter, electric versions of light commercial vehicles under the Peugeot, Citroen and Opel brands would be the new models available this year.
