element14 has introduced Murata’s new UWB and LoRa connectivity modules, facilitating easier wireless integration. These modules are designed to streamline wireless development and certification, simplifying the incorporation of wireless capabilities into various applications. The modules provide precise location functionality with UWB tag and anchor functions in compact packages. Featuring integrated RF front ends, these modules ease the implementation process, minimizing the need for extensive RF expertise. This allows developers to integrate advanced location capabilities into their applications seamlessly.
The modules offer a compact, integrated solution with an embedded MCU. Developers can utilize the MCU as the Host for an End Node, offering customization options for various projects.UWB modules enable high location accuracy, ideal for asset tracking and RTLS applications. The technology provides location accuracy of around 0.1m for both indoor and outdoor applications. The UWB Modules available at element14 include:
- FiRa certified UWB module, Type 2BP: This module includes NXP’s SR150 UWB chipset, clock, filters, and peripheral components. It is suitable for general IoT devices, including battery-operated devices.
- UWB module with integrated BLE wireless MCU, Type 2AB: Designed as a small, high-quality, low-power module suitable for wearables and applications where size is crucial.
- UWB tag module with integrated BLE wireless MCU, Type 2DK: A UWB + Bluetooth LE combo module that integrates NXP Trimension SR040 UWB Chipset and NXP QN9090 Bluetooth LE + MCU chipset, suitable for UWB Tag/Tracker and general IoT devices.
The Type 1SJ LoRa Modules are among the smallest in the lineup, including the Semtech SX1262 LoRa ConnectTM Transceiver IC and ST Microelectronics STM32L0 MCU. The LoRa modules available at element14 include:The LoRa OpenMCU Module, Type 1SJ-295, offers an OpenMCU configuration that allows custom applications to be flashed to the integrated MCU, along with the LoRa Stack. The LoRaWAN Modem Module, Type 1SJ-6868, comes pre-flashed with modem firmware and an EUI to support LoRaWAN operation via AT Commands. Additionally, the LoRa Module Evaluation Kit facilitates the development and verification of both the OpenMCU and Modem configurations of the module.
