Despite a month-to-month dip, global semiconductor sales hit a record $54.92 billion in February 2025, marking a 17.1% YoY rise. Americas lead.

Semiconductor sales worldwide reached $54.92 billion in February 2025, marking a 17.1% rise from $46.90 billion in the same month last year.

This was the highest figure ever recorded for February, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). However, on a month-to-month (MoM) basis, sales dipped by 2.9% from January’s $56.53 billion.

Regionally, the Americas saw the most notable growth, with year-on-year (YoY) sales soaring by 48.4% to $18.64 billion. Asia Pacific/All Other regions followed with a 10.8% increase to $13.42 billion. China rose by 5.6% YoY to $15.06 billion, and Japan grew by 5.1% to $3.78 billion. However, Europe saw a decline of 8.1%, with sales slipping to $4.01 billion from $4.36 billion the previous year.

On a monthly basis, February sales declined across all regions. The Americas dropped by 4.6%, followed by Japan and China, each down by 3.1%. Europe fell by 2.4%, while Asia Pacific/All Other remained relatively stable with a marginal 0.1% decrease.

Despite the yearly growth in February, the three-month moving average data further underlines a slowdown. Total global sales for the December–February period came in at $54.92 billion, down 5.3% from the previous September–November average of $58.02 billion. Regionally, Japan and Europe showed the steepest declines over this period, at -9.5% and -9.6% respectively.

However, John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, noted the industry’s solid performance despite the minor monthly drop. “Despite a slight decline in month-to-month sales, the global semiconductor industry hit its highest-ever monthly sales total for the month of February, driving strong year-to-year growth,” he said.

He also highlighted a consistent trend: “Year-to-year sales increased by more than 17% for the 10th consecutive month, driven by a year-to-year sales increase of nearly 50% in the Americas.”
