An acting MD, Bharat Kaushal, has been appointed Executive Chairman of Hitachi India, leading regional strategy as the company boosts its multi-sector growth in India.
Bharat Kaushal has been promoted to Executive Chairman of Hitachi India, effective from 1 April 2025. He will also serve as the acting Managing Director (MD) and has been named corporate officer overseeing regional strategies for India at Hitachi Ltd.
This move highlights the Japanese multinational’s enduring commitment to India, marking over 90 years of collaboration in the country.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, Hitachi stated that Kaushal’s appointment reflects its intent to strengthen ties and expand its presence across key sectors.
Previously, Kaushal served as MD of Hitachi India and held the corporate officer role at Hitachi Ltd. He became the first Indian to be appointed MD in the 2016–17 financial year.
Expressing gratitude, Kaushal said he was honoured and delighted by the trust shown in him. He added that his new role comes with greater responsibility and an opportunity to shape Hitachi’s strategic growth in India.
Hitachi credited Kaushal with driving expansion across a wide range of industries, including energy, infrastructure, urban mobility, healthcare, e-education, and financial inclusion. The company praised his efforts in forming strong partnerships and contributing to India’s development goals.
According to the company, Kaushal’s leadership is expected to continue steering Hitachi’s ambitious roadmap, enhancing its role in India’s transformation and supporting long-term economic progress.
