Taiwanese manufacturing hub may come up in Karnataka

India is planning to set up an electronic manufactuing hub in association with the Taiwanese companies. This hub–Taiwanese City—will be set up in Karnataka, which will boost local manufacturing and hardware manufacturing industries.

Saturday, September 29, 2012: Karnataka government has given then two options—a 1,400 acres of land in Narsapur in Kolar district of Karnataka and a 700 acres of land near the international airport in Devanahalli. State government has also offered that 30 per cent of the township will be kept reserved for electronic industries and the rest will be used for other residential industries. Soon a Taiwanese team will visit Karnataka and finalise the location of the hub.

Taiwan has, however, put forth a pre-condition that only Taiwanese companies should be allowed to set up shops in the ‘Taiwanese City’. The state government will tale a call on this after the Taiwanese team finalises the location.
