Gamesa India has bagged a solar power project for delivering 20 MW solar power in the Baruthankanda Village of Hambantota Province, Sri Lanka. The project was awarded by Laugfs Power Limited. The solar plant is going to become operational by October 2016. Within the project, Gamesa will be providing complete turnkey EPC solutions which will comprise of engineering & design, supply of Gamesa Electric inverters, erection and commissioning of the 20 MW solar plants.
As per Ramesh Kymal, chairman and managing director, Gamesa India, “We are already a leading wind player in Sri Lanka and this solar order has further elevated us to a complete renewable energy player in the country. Sri Lanka has a strong focus towards increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix.” He also stressed that the Sri Lankan Government is taking steps to promote clean energy. After reinstating its market leadership in the wind sector in India, Gamesa is looking forth to making significant contributions for utilising solar power as well.
Gamesa India’s executive vice president, K V Sajay stressed that they were happy to introduce their solar solutions in Sri Lanka which also has the backing of a strong support system. As the demand for renewable energy is increasing, we are aiming to increase the roll out our solar ambitions in the coming years.
Gamesa is offering solar EPC solutions for MW scale solar projects, distributed generation solar projects and rural/micro-grid projects apart from continuing its expansion in inverter solutions.
