IAF Inducts Tata Nexon EVs For Green Mobility

The first batch of 12 EVs were flagged off at Air Force Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan by the Chief of the Air Staff

In accordance with the government’s initiative on the introduction of green mobility, the Indian Air Force has inducted a fleet of Tata Nexon Electric Vehicles. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari flagged off the first batch of 12 EVs at Air Force Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan on Tuesday. Other senior officers and staff were also present at the event. The first batch of these e-cars will be deployed in Delhi NCR units for performance monitoring and analysis. IAF aims to achieve a reduction in carbon footprint with this initiative.

As per the press release from the Defence Ministry, the Indian Air Force is planning to enhance the usage of EVs in a progressive manner by procuring e-vehicles against downgraded conventional vehicles. Augmentation of the e-vehicles ecosystem, including installation of charging infrastructure at various Air Force bases, is also planned, said the notification.

It further added, “To create a standardized inventory of vehicles, IAF has already joined hands with the Indian Army in the ongoing procurement of Electric Buses and Electric Cars. These proactive measures reaffirm IAF’s commitment to the National objective of transformation towards environment-friendly mobility.”

It is noteworthy that recently, the Indian Army, in collaboration with TATA Power installed 16 EV charging stations at various locations in Delhi Cantonment.
