Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Wednesday that electric vehicle services will start at significant tourist sites in Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to introduce electric vehicle services at major tourist spots in Uttar Pradesh. During a World Tourism Day event at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, Adityanath emphasized the state’s move towards e-buses, e-rickshaws, and solar lighting at these sites.
He also inaugurated a UP tourism exhibition, unveiled an ‘A to Z’ booklet on UP tourist locations, distributed kits to Youth Tourism Club members, and recognized top tourism entrepreneurs.
Aligning with this year’s World Tourism Day theme, “Tourism and Green Investment,” Adityanath stressed the benefits of this green shift for the environment and visitor experience. He advocated for solar lighting over generator-provided electricity and expressed the significance of both religious and entertainment tourism in UP.
Adityanath shared that over 30 crore tourists visited religious sites in UP in the past year, underlining the associated employment opportunities. Specifically, he highlighted that two crore pilgrims visited Kashi Vishwanath Dham during the month of Sawan.
He praised the enhanced facilities at key religious locations, such as Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan. Adityanath called for collective efforts to keep these spots clean and emphasized the government’s focus on improving connectivity for the tourism sector, noting the growth in operational airports from two in 2017 to nine currently, with 12 more in the pipeline.
Lastly, Adityanath highlighted the need for multilingual signages at tourist destinations, suggesting they cater to frequent visitors’ native languages. He also recommended training local youth as guides and providing travel details in commonly spoken languages.
