TMEIC India, IIT-Kanpur Partner For Research in Power Electronics

The partners aim to work together to research, develop and test new power electronics products that meet the growing demand for efficient and environment-friendly energy solutions

TMEIC Industrial Systems India Private Limited, a Group company of Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corporation (TMEIC) recently announced that the company signed a research and development agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. The products featuring advanced technologies in the field of power electronics will be the main focus of this exercise. Notably, Mr Hemant Joshi, managing director of TMEIC India, signed the agreement on behalf of the company in presence of Professor A. R. Harish, Dean of Research and Development, IIT Kanpur in a function held at IIT Kanpur last week.

It is learnt that the current partnership will focus on leveraging the expertise of both organizations to create innovative and sustainable solutions for the power industry. As per the official statement, the collaboration is in line with TMEIC India’s commitment to delivering greater value to customers through continuous technological innovations.

TMEIC India MD, Hemant Joshi remarked, “We are delighted to partner with IIT Kanpur for the development of power electronics products. This collaboration will enable us to leverage IIT Kanpur’s research capabilities and develop innovative solutions that can benefit the energy industry. We are confident that this partnership will create significant value for both TMEIC India and IIT Kanpur.”

The signing event witnessed the presence of Mr Sreekanth Menoth, Program Manager of Product Development and Mr Ananda Sai Veluganti, Technology Executive from TMEIC India along with Dr Suvendu Samanta, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Dr Gururaj Mirle Vishwanath, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering.

Bengaluru-based TMEIC India is a 100% owned subsidiary of TMEIC and has its manufacturing facilities in Tumakuru, Karnataka, for the design, engineering, manufacturing, and testing of PV inverters, variable frequency drives, electric motors and large UPS systems. TMEIC, a 50-50 joint venture between Japan’s Toshiba Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation formed in 2003, is a leading company in rotating machines, power electronics and automation technologies that aim to enable efficiency and environmental sustainability for industrial, commercial, and utility customers.
