Aimtron Electronics has secured a pilot box-build manufacturing programme from an undisclosed global solutions company, with a commercial production potential of US$3.4 million (approximately ₹290 million), subject to successful qualification and future production orders.
The programme marks a significant step in the company’s expansion beyond printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) into integrated box-build manufacturing, where complete electronic systems are assembled, tested and prepared for deployment.
According to Aimtron, the pilot programme will serve as an evaluation phase before any commercial production is awarded. If qualification requirements are met, the engagement could progress to full-scale manufacturing, creating a longer-term business opportunity.
Box-build manufacturing involves the assembly of complete electronic products, including mechanical integration, cable and wire harnessing, enclosure assembly, system testing and final product validation. These services generally offer greater value addition than conventional PCB assembly by combining multiple manufacturing processes into a finished system.
The programme reflects Aimtron’s strategy of expanding its capabilities in higher-value electronics manufacturing services (EMS). For the SME-listed company, the potential commercial value of the programme is significant relative to its existing scale of operations and highlights increasing engagement with international customers.
The development comes as India’s EMS industry continues to benefit from global supply chain diversification, with multinational companies increasingly exploring alternative manufacturing locations under the ‘China Plus One’ strategy. Government initiatives to strengthen domestic electronics manufacturing have also encouraged Indian manufacturers to move into more advanced production segments.
