Aiming to drive nationwide 5G adoption and reduce costs through self-reliance, Haryana tech firm Amantya Technologies lands DoT grant to develop India’s own 5G SA Core.
Gurugram-based Amantya Technologies, which specialises in system integration in 5G, IoT, AI, Edge, and Cloud, has secured a grant from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme to develop a domestic 5G Standalone (SA) Core.
This project, titled “Development of India 5G Stack’ with Next-Gen 3GPP Release 16/17 Compliant ‘Made in India 5G SA Core’,” aims to create a carrier-grade 5G solution compliant with the latest 3GPP standards, offering security and advanced features for large-scale public and enterprise deployments.
According to the Ministry of Communications, it will bridge the digital divide by providing high-speed connectivity to rural and remote areas. Made in India, it will also reduce deployment costs and promote the adoption of 5G technology.
The new 5G SA Core will build on Amantya’s enterprise-grade solution, upgrading the network with features such as network slicing, VoNR, ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine-type communications (mMTC). It will support seamless integration with both 4G and 5G networks.
The core will be cloud-agnostic, supporting platforms like Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift, and can be deployed on general-purpose hardware or cloud infrastructure. It will feature geo-redundancy, high availability, traffic monitoring, and automatic scaling.
However, the exact amount of the grant remains undisclosed.
Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted that the initiative would provide India with an indigenous option for 5G deployment.
“This funding is a testament to India’s growing capabilities in the telecom sector. By fostering innovation and self-reliance, this initiative will play a crucial role in transforming India into a global hub for 5G technology, ” stated Dr Parag Agarwal, DDG of TTDF.
Anuradha Gupta, CEO of Amantya Technologies, expressed pride in receiving the grant. She highlighted, “This project aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will enhance the country’s telecom infrastructure while preparing us for future advancements like 6G.”
