Semiconductor giant AMD partners with the University of Delhi to train 10,000 students in cutting-edge AI skills through hands-on technology access and cloud credits.
Semiconductor firm Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has forged a strategic partnership with the University of Delhi to upskill 10,000 students in artificial intelligence over the coming year.
Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the tech company will introduce its “AI Engage Developer Program” to the university. The initiative aims to provide students and academic staff with direct, hands-on access to AMD’s open-source ROCm AI software platform, dedicated learning resources, and developer GPU cloud credits.
Jaya Jagadish, country head and senior vice president of engineering at AMD India, highlighted the country’s potential to drive global technological advancement. “India has the talent and the ambition to lead the next wave of AI innovation,” she said. “The opportunity now is to give students early access to the platforms and tools that power real-world AI development.”
She added that the alliance will help students bridge the gap between understanding theoretical AI concepts and developing practical, real-world solutions.
The training initiative will offer participants access to an AI-focused curriculum, technical workshops, open-source software ecosystems, and cloud-based GPU infrastructure for practical experimentation. The programme is tailored to foster research, drive local innovation, and prepare a new generation of developers, supporting broader efforts to establish indigenous AI capabilities across India.
Welcoming the initiative, Professor Yogesh Singh, vice-chancellor of Delhi University, said: “We are proud to partner with AMD in advancing AI education and innovation in India. This collaboration reflects a growing industry focus on preparing graduates with practical AI skills that extend beyond classroom learning.”
The partnership marks the latest in a series of ongoing investments by AMD to strengthen India’s technology ecosystem through academic collaboration, developer support, and open AI software development.
