Australian AI infrastructure firm Firmus Technologies has signed a strategic deal with NVIDIA to provide more affordable computing access for emerging AI companies.
Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus Technologies has entered a strategic partnership with NVIDIA Corp to increase access to AI computing power for developing and smaller AI firms, Reuters reported.
Under the agreement, Firmus will buy NVIDIA infrastructure and provide Nvidia-powered cloud services to customers, including AI-native businesses. The company said the partnership is aimed at reducing barriers to advanced AI computing.
As part of the deal, Firmus expects to deploy 170,000 GPUs from the first quarter of 2027 through early 2028. These units will be based in Batam, Indonesia.
The company estimates the deal could generate up to $30 billion in revenue over six years, based on customer commitments.
Firmus co-chief executive Tim Rosenfield said the partnership would help develop and make a more competitive AI ecosystem.
“This is actually a really material way to level the playing field a little bit and give the next wave a chance to compete with the big guys,” Rosenfield told Reuters.
NVIDIA has also participated in Firmus’ earlier capital raisings. In April, Firmus said it had raised $1.35 billion over six months, valuing the company at $5.5 billion.
