Avantel Wins ₹125.1M Satcom Order From BEL

Securing the order from defence PSU BEL, Avantel sharpens its edge in India’s aerospace-tech arena despite recent profit pressures.

Avantel Limited has secured a purchase order worth ₹125.1 million from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the supply of satellite communication products. The order, dated 17 September 2025, is expected to be completed by March 2026.

In a regulatory filing, the Visakhapatnam-based company confirmed that the contract is purely domestic and falls under the manufacturing supply category. The deal also requires a performance bank guarantee of three per cent. Avantel clarified that the order is not linked to any promoter or related party transactions.

Avantel specialises in wireless and satellite communication systems, defence electronics, radar solutions, and network management software, serving primarily the aerospace and defence sectors. Established in 1990, the company is listed on both NSE and BSE.

Despite securing this new order, Avantel’s latest earnings report showed pressure on profitability. Net profit for the first quarter of FY26 declined 56.23 per cent year on year to ₹32.3 million, even as revenue rose slightly by 0.29 per cent to ₹519.1 million.

BEL, a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, is among India’s largest defence electronics manufacturers. It supplies products and systems to the Army, Navy and Air Force. For Q1 FY26, BEL posted a 24.86 per cent jump in standalone net profit to almost ₹9.7 billion, backed by a 5.19 per cent increase in revenue to almost ₹44.17 billion.

Following this order, market reaction was mixed. On Thursday, Avantel’s stock gained 1.38 per cent to trade at ₹179.50 on the BSE by mid-morning, extending its strong run over the past six months. The counter has surged nearly 67 per cent in that period. By contrast, BEL shares slipped 0.35 per cent to ₹410.85.
