Indian electronics manufacturers are expanding into specialised segments such as defence, healthcare, industrial automation and automotive electronics as they look beyond traditional consumer electronics assembly.
India’s electronics manufacturing sector is increasingly shifting its focus from high-volume consumer electronics assembly to specialised segments such as defence, aerospace, healthcare, industrial automation and automotive electronics.
Moneycontrol reported that companies including Dixon Technologies, Syrma SGS Technology, Amber Enterprises India and Kaynes Technology India are expanding into these areas as they seek new growth opportunities and higher-value business segments.
Dixon Technologies has identified specialty electronics manufacturing as a main growth area. Chairman and Managing Director Atul Lall said high-end specialty EMS would form part of the company’s next phase of transformational growth, with a focus on sectors including aerospace, defence, automotive, medical and industrial electronics.
At Syrma SGS Technology, Managing Director Jasbir Singh Gujral said automotive, industrial and healthcare electronics are expected to drive growth in FY27. The company is also exploring opportunities in medical technology, defence electronics and printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing.
Amber Enterprises India is improving and increasing its presence in PCB manufacturing, industrial automation, power electronics and automotive electronics. Executive Chairman and CEO Jasbir Singh said the company is increasingly focusing on value-added segments such as industrial, power, aerospace, defence and medical electronics.
Meanwhile, Kaynes Technology India is strengthening its product development and design capabilities while concentrating on sectors such as electric vehicles, aerospace and defence electronics. Managing Director Muthukumar Narayanasamy said the company aims to increase the contribution of new product development and value-added offerings over time.
The shift reflects a broader trend in the industry, with manufacturers seeking higher-margin opportunities and greater value addition as India’s electronics ecosystem continues to evolve.
