Indian Navy has outlined plans for induction of a significant number of ships and submarines over the coming years, estimating a pipeline of approximately 160 WECDIS platforms.
C2C Advanced Systems Limited has received an order from Hindustan Shipyard Limited for the supply of Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (WECDIS) for fleet support ships being constructed for the Indian Navy.
The Fleet Support Ship programme is a logistics-focused initiative of the Indian Navy aimed at enhancing the operational endurance of naval task forces.
The Company had been previously nominated as a vendor for WECDIS systems by the Indian Navy following successful installation, integration and trial processes on operational naval platforms, as disclosed in the Company’s announcement dated 5th August 2025. This nomination enables participation in both new shipbuilding programmes and retrofit opportunities across the existing fleet.
The present order represents deployment of the Company’s systems on new-build platforms under the Fleet Support Ship programme.
Naval vessels typically operate over long service lifecycles, during which onboard electronic and navigation systems undergo periodic upgrades and replacements. As a result, systems such as WECDIS form part of both initial shipbuilding requirements and long-term modernisation programmes.
While the company has not disclosed the order value, they are estimating an opportunity in the range of approximately ₹1.6-1.8 billion over 3 years, according to the exchange filing.
WECDIS systems are aligned with Indian Naval standards and operational protocols. The system performs a range of mission-critical functions onboard naval vessels, including:
- Real-time ship positioning through integration with GPS and inertial navigation systems
- Route planning with awareness of depth, navigational hazards and restricted zones
- Dynamic re-routing capabilities during operational missions
- Fusion of inputs from multiple onboard systems, including navigation sensors, surveillance systems and interfaced combat systems
- Generation of a Common Operational Picture (COP) for use across the bridge and Combat Information Centre
WECDIS is a military-grade navigation and situational awareness system designed specifically for naval operations. It is an advanced variant of the commercial Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS).
While ECDIS is primarily used for merchant navigation, WECDIS extends functionality to support naval operations and tactical decision-making.
