With over 30,000 members and 150+ student-led projects, Chip Camp is helping prepare the next generation of engineers for India’s semiconductor ambitions.
As India ramps up efforts to become a global semiconductor hub, Chip Camp is working to address a key industry challenge: developing skilled talent for the country’s growing chip ecosystem.
Founded by semiconductor educator Sanchit Kulkarni and Himanshi Sonava of Electronics Camp, Chip Camp has grown into a community of more than 30,000 students, professionals and aspiring engineers focused on semiconductor technologies, VLSI, chip design and embedded systems.
The platform seeks to make hardware engineering more accessible at a time when demand for semiconductors is rising due to advances in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, cloud computing, telecommunications and defense technologies.
Unlike many technology communities centered on software development, Chip Camp focuses on core electronics disciplines, including RTL design, verification, physical design, FPGA development and embedded systems. What began as an educational initiative has evolved into one of India’s largest student-led semiconductor communities.
The platform operates as a free learning and collaboration ecosystem where members can access study materials, prepare for exams such as GATE, receive career guidance and participate in hands-on projects. More than 150 student-led projects have been completed across semiconductor and electronics domains, many using open-source Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.
A major strength of the community is its mentorship network. Industry professionals and former members who have secured semiconductor jobs regularly guide students through career sessions, resume reviews, interview preparation and technical training.
To further support learners, Chip Camp has curated over 100 educational resources covering semiconductor fabrication, chip design, embedded programming, digital electronics and interview preparation.
As India expands investments through initiatives such as the India Semiconductor Mission, talent development is increasingly viewed as a critical factor in building a sustainable and globally competitive semiconductor industry.
