Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners(CIP) and Ignitis Renewables have received a tender to establish an offshore wind farm in Estonia’s Liivi 1 seabed area. Both companies have signed an agreement also for wind opportunities in Estonia and Latvia.
CIP and Ignitis Renewables have also won Estonia’s first offshore wind tender held in December 2023.
Both companies see the Liivi 1 location as a logical extension of the seabed area. It offers enhanced opportunities for synergy and efficiency in developing these two sites as a unified offshore wind project.
These maritime zones are situated in the Gulf of Riga, northwest of Ruhnu Island, and near Estonia’s Baltic Sea coastline, encompassing an area of approximately 193 square kilometers. Combining both sites, project completion is anticipated beyond 2030, contingent upon securing necessary permits, vendor contracts, and financing.
The collaboration between CIP, renowned for its global offshore wind expertise, and Ignitis Renewables, a prominent player in the Baltic region, leverages the strengths of both companies. With ownership of both Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 sea areas, CIP and Ignitis Renewables have strategically positioned themselves to maximize the sites’ potential. This represents a significant investment in Estonia’s transformation into a sustainable, long-term green energy hub within Europe.
