The deal expands congatec’s product portfolio, opens its aReady. software ecosystem to new customers, and deepens its strategic partnership with Kontron for enhanced innovation and market reach.
Embedded and edge computing specialist congatec has announced a major strategic move by acquiring a majority stake in Kontron AG’s module business, including JUMPtec GmbH, Kontron America Modules LLC, and Kontron Asia Embedded Design Sdn. Bhd. This acquisition cements congatec’s leadership in the standardized Computer-on-Modules (COMs) market and significantly expands its global footprint.
The agreement ensures continuity for JUMPtec’s existing customers, with congatec committed to maintaining the current COM-HPC, COM Express, SMARC, and Qseven product lines. All business relationships and supply agreements will remain intact, safeguarding ongoing support and product availability.
As part of the integration, congatec will extend its aReady. software ecosystem to compatible JUMPtec modules. This gives JUMPtec customers access to advanced features such as aReady.VT hypervisor and aReady.IOT software, as well as pre-installed and licensed options like Canonical’s Ubuntu Pro and Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX OS. The result is faster time-to-market and greater development efficiency through application-ready hardware-software stacks.
The move also deepens congatec’s collaboration with Kontron. Kontron can now incorporate congatec’s entire module lineup into its own system solutions, while both companies benefit from synergies in engineering and manufacturing. This tighter partnership allows each to focus on their core strengths while offering customers more competitive, scalable, and ready-to-integrate platforms.
Konrad Garhammer, CTO and COO at congatec, stated, “This strategic step brings us proven expertise and a complementary product range, which accelerates innovation and expands choices for customers worldwide.”Dr. Dominik Ressing, CEO of congatec, added, “This is a milestone in our growth strategy. By combining forces, we’re not only enhancing our development capabilities but also empowering our customers with broader, faster access to high-performance embedded ecosystems.”
