Dacio Uses AI To Boost Road Safety In India

Leveraging predictive video telematics, Dacio’s offerings focus on the commercial sector—such as trucks, logistics fleets, and school buses—to enhance driving behaviour and foster safer road conditions.

Serial entrepreneur Suman Gandham, who previously sold a business to a Fintech Unicorn, has initiated a new venture in the AI mobility space with his startup, Dacio. The enterprise seeks to elevate road safety across India by utilizing predictive video telematics, specifically focusing on the commercial realm, including trucks, logistics enterprises, school buses, and multinational corporations.

At the heart of Dacio’s product lineup is the Dacio Dash Cam AI. This advanced dash cam, tailored for the B2B market, conducts sophisticated analyses of driving patterns and driver behaviours to augment road safety. It equips fleet operators with instant insights into their drivers’ performance, thereby encouraging superior driving standards and improved driver conditions. Key behaviours the dash cam monitors include mobile phone use, seatbelt usage, driver distraction, and signs of drowsiness or fatigue, providing immediate alerts to both drivers and fleet management.

Suman Gandham, as Founder and CEO, articulates that Dacio’s ambition is to leverage AI to significantly enhance the safety of India’s roads. This vision goes beyond a singular product; Dacio aspires to craft an expansive suite of mobility solutions, incorporating technologies like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), all customized for the nuances of Indian roadways. Additionally, the company intends to construct a vast, India-specific data lake to support OEMs in developing solutions tailored to the local driving landscape.

Beyond its four-channel dash cam, Dacio offers retrofitting software that can be integrated into pre-existing vehicle dash cams. This solution boasts edge computing capabilities, enabling real-time feedback and minimizing latency issues often associated with cloud-based processing, thus ensuring uninterrupted operation even in less connected areas.

To propel Dacio forward, Suman Gandham has joined forces with Abhilash Reddy, a seasoned professional in the automotive domain with extensive experience in fintech, motorsport, and IoT. Serving as Co-founder, Reddy’s expertise will be crucial as Dacio has already begun securing paid contracts within the logistics, education, and OEM sectors, aiming to deploy 10,000 dash cams in the next year. Looking ahead, the startup is preparing for an upcoming seed funding round to broaden its operations, enhance its product line, and solidify its status as a pioneer in AI-driven road safety solutions.
