April 8, 2015: The Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Company Ltd (DMCC) has appointed Bridge To India Solar Energy One Pvt Ltd to implement a solar plant at its plant in Roha, Raigad district, Maharashtra.
The solar project capacity will be 500KW, to be gradually increased over a period of time. By implementing this project, DMCC will partially replace expensive grid power with cheaper green energy and reduce its energy cost. This is also a significant step for DMCC towards sustainability.
Bimal Goculdas, CEO of DMCC said “DMCC and group companies have always been at the forefront of renewable energy. We use wind energy, as well as recover waste heat from our chemical plants and convert it into steam and electricity. Steam is supplied to adjacent industries, hence reducing carbon footprint. We now look forward to another ‘green’ investment, solar power, which will increase our non-conventional energy generation. We will evaluate options to increase this, as we firmly believe that a sustainable future needs reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
