Cadence picks a veteran leader to head its India operations, hinting at a calculated move to deepen its semiconductor play, scale innovation, and expand influence.
Cadence, a global leader in computational software, has named Dr Alok Jain as the Managing Director for its India operations. In his new role, Dr Jain will lead the company’s regional growth strategy.
Dr Jain brings over 35 years of experience in the technology sector. He joined Cadence India in 1997 and currently serves as Vice President in the System Verification Group (SDA).
Over the years, he has played a key role in shaping the growth and culture of the company’s Noida centre. He has also led teams in delivering advanced solutions to customers worldwide.
India is a crucial market for Cadence, with more than 30% of its global workforce based there. A large share of these teams is involved in core research, development, and product innovation.
For the past 12 years, Cadence has been featured among the top 100 in the “India’s Best Companies to Work For” survey by the Great Place to Work Institute.
Cadence established its presence in India in 1987 and has since played an important role in building the country’s semiconductor ecosystem. It is also a founding member of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).
The company has partnered with organisations such as MeitY, AICTE, IITs, and other leading institutions. It has also collaborated with over 400 colleges and universities to strengthen the chip design talent pipeline.
Through initiatives like the Chips to Startup (C2S) program and AI-driven design innovations, Cadence continues to support India’s semiconductor ambitions. Dr Jain is expected to strengthen further the company’s role in these important national initiatives.
