March 2, 2015: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), has announced its plans to invest Rs 10 billion in Andhra Pradesh, as a part of the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives in the state.
First, EESL plans to organise a national level LED manufacturing industry CEOs’ roundtable conference on 10th March. This conference will be aimed at discussing key issues and challenges in the LED street lighting system and the DELP scheme in the domestic sector initiated by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Moreover, EESL, in coordination with State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), has already distributed more than 3.5 million LED bulbs in the domestic sector and close to 80,000 LED street lights in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation in Phase I. This has resulted in energy savings of 300 mu, annually.
According to SECM, the emphasis will be on offering reliable power supply for the consumers. For this the state government targets to complete the demand side management (DSM)-based efficient lighting programme (DELP) in the state by 2015-16.
